A Testament to My Addiction to Comments
I give you this extremely telling comment my husband left on my blog late last night when he practically resorted to smoke signals to track me down:
"To the Wife,
Since I know that you will probably read the comments on your blog before you check voicemail, cell phone or email account so I am posting my message here cause I know that you will read it.
Just wanted to wish you good luck tomorrow. I am sure that the call will go great.
The Hubster"
You know you're an industrial grade comment ho when your husband is positive he can reach you faster via your blog's comment pop-ups than on your home phone, cell phone, email, and possibly even telepathy.
Okay. Point taken. I have comment issues. Clearly they are very deep issues wrapped around validation. Who doesn't adore feedback on their self-created media? The power to delete the comments I don't like is, well, uh, intoxicating. Insert evil, maniacal villian laugh here. (For the record, I've never deleted anyone's comments thus far.)
More importantly, what does this suggest about the hierarchy of my life priorities if my husband can only get through by knocking on my comments door?
Just fodder for thought ...

LOL Awesome. I know just how he feels trust me.
I wish I had an answer. Alas, I do not. I love comments so much and wonder each and everyday, "Why?! I have X amount of traffic and only two comments? How is this possible?"
Sadly, I also feel the same way when it comes to my Sitemeter. If I see someone was there for 0:00 minutes and seconds, I wonder, "Why oh why did you not stay, take up a chair and get cozy? Am I not engaging enough?!!"
And the euphoria I feel when someone hung out for 15 minutes? Indescribable.
Yeah, it's pretty sick really how emotionally attached I am to my own blog. I can't help anyone at something that I can't help myself with. But good luck with that priority and family thing. ;)
The love of my life is the same way "OMG just 3 COMMENTS!!!??!?!?! OMG" just kinda sit there and nod and smile and offer support "Baby, i don't know why you have such little traffic...maybe cause of the holidays" This was around Christmas. was trying to be kind...she didn't buy it either lol
Haha, I've always said comments are like handing me a five dollar bill. Now, if only I really *could* get a five dollar bill for each comment I got. I'd be set.
No better way to feed your addiction than to offer a comment! I see nothing wrong with the fact that your hubby is smart enough to figure out the best way to contact you. That is not a negative commentary about your life...just admitting the hubby is pretty bright.
I think the only comment my husband ever made on my blog was him telling my audience that a "Which Country Are You" was flawed as it put him as "China".
Comments rock. You're normal. Of course, that is coming from me, so take it with salt n' stuff...
I was just thinking about this EXACT thing! I, too, have recently become obsessed with comments. And the sitemeter, well I probably should delete the damn thing because it is ADDICTING.

Well I know my toy boy has started reading my blog, he hasn't gone as far as commenting on it but maybe I should advise him that this is a much quicker way to get my attention!!
Oh, that is so me. Comments are my life. When I don't get comments, I cry.
My husband and I are often e-mailing eachother from opposite sides of the house rather than get up to actually talk to one another...too old fashioned.
I think we are in fact often checking our traffic stats at the same time...he's got a software package on the market and I've got a new blog. We are both completely absorbed in our own stuff.
Who has time for marriage when there are comments to check?

Oh how I can relate! It has been refreshing to take a break though and not be obsessed with the comments although now that I am back (yep, I AM back) who knows what will happen although being OCDish I can only imagine! Oy!
As for deleting nasty comments, it happens in time and I have had my fair share of them. Ironically, the nastiest people have found me on YouTube. I am not one to delete comments but some have been so utterly hateful and nasty I have opted for that route... hope you don't get any of those! Dios mio! :-)
